Health & Development Programmes

QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) Accreditation

Ballbeg CDP is a QQI accredited training centre. The project offers QQI levels 3-5 major and minor awards and supports individuals to progress on to further training at centres outside of the immediate community.

Community Garden

Ballybeg Community Garden is a communal gardening project for experienced and learner gardeners from Ballybeg. Groups of friends, family members or course participants are given a small plot to produce their own fruit, vegetables and flowers. Gardeners are supported by past trainees who have knowledge of growing and by a CDP staff member.

The Family Growing Project

The Family Growing Project is a Community Food Initiative funded by Safefood and managed by Healthy Food for All. The aim of the project is to support parents and children to increase their skills and ability around growing and cooking, which will develop their awareness of and access to healthy food. This will have a positive impact on the overall well-being of all members of the family.

Health Awareness

We were the first community in Waterford to develop an annual health awareness day which we continue to do. These are followed up by information and support programmes related to specific health topics e.g. Men's Health Awareness, Sexual Health Awareness, Children's Healthy Fun Days and workshops on Mental Health.

We celebrate difference and diversity and work to include all groups within the community. Our integration strategy includes the development of action on racism, training in equality and diversity and the promotion of inter-cultural programmes.

We network with other community organisations in Ballybeg and with local and city wide statutory agencies on issues relating to the Ballybeg community.

Women's Group

The Ballybeg Women's Group meets every Wednesday evening and is open to new members.

We produce a BallyBeg Newsletter 3 times a year which includes the Key Project Welfare Information Sheet and is delivered to 1,000 households in Ballybeg.
